The Svadhishthana Chakra represents the second stage of human evolution, where consciousness begins its journey towards pure human awareness. It serves as the repository of the subconscious mind, housing impressions and life experiences accumulated since our existence in the womb. While the Muladhara Chakra holds our karmic records, these karmas are activated in the Svadhishthana Chakra.
Located about three centimeters above the Muladhara Chakra, between the coccyx and sacrum, the Svadhishthana Chakra was once the seat of Kundalini Shakti in earlier stages of human evolution. However, in Kali Yuga, the current age, this spiritual energy has descended into the Muladhara Chakra, representing unconsciousness—a consequence of materialism and self-centered behaviors.
Focusing inward on the Svadhishthana Chakra helps uncover answers to questions about our destiny. Although this Chakra contains weaknesses and past mistakes, it offers a transformative opportunity to elevate human consciousness. By working on the Svadhishthana Chakra, one can master and refine primal instincts, eventually transcending them.
Awakening the Svadhishthana Chakra leads to clarity and personality growth, but this requires purifying the mind of negative traits. The symbolic representation of this Chakra is a lotus with six petals, each representing a negative quality to overcome: anger, hatred, jealousy, cruelty, desire, and pride. Additional obstacles that hinder our progress include lethargy, fear, doubt, revenge, envy, and greed.
The crocodile symbolizes the Svadhishthana Chakra, representing laziness, insensitivity, and latent dangers. The element of Svadhishthana is Water, which is soft and pliable, but also an immense power when out of control.. Like water can be calm or destructive, the Svadhishthana Chakra holds immense power. When negative emotions from the subconscious surface, they can off balance the mind.
The presiding divinities of this Chakra are Brahma, the Creator, and his daughter Saraswati, the Goddess of wisdom and arts. Its color is orange, like the sunrise—symbolising the rising consciousness. Orange also signifies activity, purity, and the positive traits associated with this Chakra, such as joy, faith, self-confidence, and energy.
The gemstone associated with the Svadhishthana Chakra is Red Carnelian, which enhances its energy.
